Since 1991, EDI has provided its clients with specialized research, intelligence and strategies that facilitate their business involvement throughout the Middle East. EDI currently serves as the regional trade representative for the U.S. states of Illinois, Minnesota, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. The company also serves as the investment attraction representative for the Washington, D.C., Office of Planning & Economic Development, and the City of Cedar Park, Texas Economic Development Office. In addition, EDI offers export development consulting services to the governments of Brazil and Ukraine.

EDI also serves as the Israeli consultant to Invest Hong Kong, a government agency charged with promoting inward investment. In this capacity, EDI provides information and assistance to Israeli companies looking to develop their business in the Far East.

PRINCIPAL BIOGRAPHY

Sherwin Pomerantz is a 40-year resident of Israel, originally from New York and having lived 20 years in Chicago. A graduate engineer with dual degrees in Industrial and Mechanical Engineering from New York University and the University of Illinois, he also holds an MBA from Northwestern University.

Sherwin founded EDI in 1992 to provide international business consulting services to countries interested in the emerging Middle East market. He is the founder and current chair of the American State Offices Association, the umbrella group for 20 U.S. state and regional representatives based in Israel. He is also a member of the board of AMCHAM (Israel-America Chamber of Commerce) and a founding director of the Israel Biotech Industry Association.

In 2012, Sherwin was the Israel Representative to the U.S. State Department’s Worldwide Economic Summit, a gathering of 180 countries under the auspices of then U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. In 2020, Sherwin was cited by the AMCHAM for his 25 years of international trade and investment promotion between Israel and the U.S.

In 2001, Sherwin co-founded IBG Global LLC and served as Co-Chair until 2023.
